Parkway Playhouse invites you to set sail for adventure with Peter and the Starcatcher, running July 31–August 9, 2026. This imaginative, high-energy production uncovers the origins of one of literature’s most beloved heroes in a theatrical journey filled with humor, heart, and daring escapades.

The Origins of a Legend

Before he was Peter Pan, he was simply a nameless orphan boy. Shipped off from Victorian England with his fellow orphans, he embarks on what seems like a bleak voyage to a distant island ruled by the cruel King Zarboff. Unbeknownst to the boys, a mysterious trunk aboard the ship holds a powerful secret that will change their destinies forever.

The Magic of Starstuff

Inside the captain’s cabin lies starstuff—a rare and magical celestial substance capable of granting extraordinary abilities. The trunk’s importance is soon discovered by Molly, a brave and intelligent Starcatcher-in-training. Determined to protect the precious cargo from falling into the wrong hands, Molly becomes an unlikely hero in a race against time.

Pirates, Peril, and the Fearsome Black Stache

The voyage takes a dangerous turn when pirates seize control of the ship. Leading them is the flamboyant and ambitious Black Stache, a villain intent on claiming the starstuff for himself. What follows is a whirlwind of shipwrecks, sword fights, and clever escapes as loyalties are tested and courage rises to the surface.

A Broadway Hit with Creative Roots

Written by Rick Elice and based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Peter and the Starcatcher features music by Wayne Barker. Originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions and others, the play earned critical acclaim for its inventive storytelling and theatrical magic.
