In-Studio Massage in Johnson City, TN: Find the Right Massage for You

in-studio-massage-johnson-city-nova-vita-bodywork-traveler

Every body has a story.

Maybe yours includes long hours at work, an active lifestyle, or the everyday demands of life. Whatever brings you to the massage table, I take time to listen, understand your goals, and tailor your session to help you feel better, move easier, and keep doing the things you love.

I'm Donna, the licensed massage therapist behind Bodywork Traveler, and I offer in-studio massage at Nova Vita Salon and Spa in Johnson City, Tennessee.

You may know me from a workplace chair massage, an in-home visit, or a community wellness workshop. At Nova Vita, I bring that same personalized approach to a comfortable spa setting.

One of the things I enjoy most about massage therapy is that no two clients are alike. Some come in after a long week at work, others after a day on the golf course or a weekend of hiking, or while recovering from an injury. Some simply want to move through their daily activities with greater comfort.

Whatever brings you in, I take time to listen and shape your session around your individual needs.

Not sure which massage to book? Start with one question:

If we could spend a little extra time on just one thing today, what would you choose?

Let's explore your options.

Choosing Between a 60-Minute and 90-Minute Massage

60-Minute Signature Massage

My 60-minute Signature Massage is a great place to start if you want a massage designed around your individual needs and preferences.

This is an integrated massage, meaning I can combine different massage techniques, adjusting pressure, focus, and pace throughout your session.

Maybe you enjoy a relaxing full-body massage but always wish we could spend a little more time on your shoulders. Or perhaps your lower back has been feeling tight after long days at work.

Tell me what's going on, and we'll make the most of your hour together.

90-Minute Renewal Massage

The 90-minute Renewal Massage gives us more time to address multiple areas while still allowing you to enjoy a relaxing, unhurried experience.

Imagine coming in after a weekend of hiking. Your calves and feet could use attention, your shoulders are feeling tight, and you'd still love time for a full-body massage.

Those extra 30 minutes give us the flexibility to do both.

And remember, longer doesn't mean deeper pressure. Whether you prefer gentle, relaxing techniques or more focused therapeutic work, your comfort guides the session.

When a Focused Massage Fits Your Day

Sometimes you don't need a full-body massage. You just want a little extra attention where you need it most.

Hand Focus Massage

Think about everything your hands do throughout the day—from gripping a steering wheel or working in the garden to sewing, crafting, or using a computer. A Hand Focus Massage concentrates on your hands and forearms, offering focused care for areas that work hard every day.

Foot Focus Massage

If you've spent the week standing, walking, or simply staying active, your feet may be ready for some attention. A Foot Focus Massage gives us dedicated time to work with your feet using techniques and pressure suited to your comfort. After all, your feet carry you through life. They deserve a little care along the way!

Chair Massage and Target Relief Massage

If you're short on time or prefer a more focused upper-body session, chair massage is a great option. It's also an approachable introduction to massage therapy.

A Target Relief Massage focuses on one or two specific areas needing attention. Maybe it's tension between your shoulder blades, tightness in your neck, or muscles that feel overworked after your favorite activity. You don't have to know the names of the muscles. Just tell me what you're feeling and where you'd like us to focus.

Prenatal Massage and Hot Stone Therapy

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy brings many changes, and what feels comfortable one week may feel different the next. A prenatal massage is designed with your changing needs in mind. We'll discuss your comfort, positioning, and areas where you'd enjoy gentle attention. Your comfort and safety are always priorities, and I welcome your feedback throughout the session.

Hot Stone Massage

If warmth is one of your favorite ways to relax, consider a hot stone massage. Smooth, heated stones are incorporated into the session to provide soothing warmth alongside traditional massage techniques. Just like pressure, heat is personal. We'll adjust the experience to what feels comfortable for you.

Personalizing Your Massage Experience

Sometimes a small addition makes an already enjoyable massage feel even more special.

Depending on the services available, enhancements may include:

  • Hand or Foot Reflexology: Focused pressure work for your hands or feet.
  • Myofascial Cupping: A technique using gentle suction to lift and mobilize soft tissue, helping ease muscle tension and improve tissue mobility.
  • Lymphatic Drainage Techniques: Gentle, specialized work intended to support lymphatic movement when appropriate.

Not sure whether an enhancement is right for you? Just ask. I'm happy to explain the options and help you decide.

And remember, you don't need to add anything to enjoy a wonderful massage. A simple request like "I'd love a quiet hour with extra time on my feet" gives me plenty to work with.

Your Massage, Your Experience

One thing I always want clients to know is that your massage should feel like your massage.

That means you can ask for lighter or firmer pressure, more time on a particular area, or a change in positioning.

You can enjoy quiet relaxation or ask questions about what we're doing.

You can even tell me that you simply want an hour to unwind without having to think about anything at all.

There's no perfect way to receive a massage. My role is to listen, adjust, and help create an experience that supports your comfort and wellness goals.

Frequently Asked Questions About In-Studio Massage

Which massage should I book for my first visit?

If you're new to massage or aren't sure which service to select, the 60-minute Signature Massage is a great starting point.

We'll talk about your preferences and make a plan before the session begins.

What should I tell my massage therapist before we start?

Tell me what brought you in, which areas you'd like extra attention on, and whether there are areas you'd prefer I avoid.

It's also important to share any relevant health conditions, recent injuries, surgeries, or changes in your health so we can determine which techniques are appropriate. You don't need to know massage terminology. Everyday descriptions work perfectly!

Can I request changes during my massage?

Absolutely!

Whether you need less pressure, a different position, or a little more time on your shoulders, I welcome your feedback. Your comfort matters, and you never have to wait for me to ask.
