About Hadestown: Teen Edition

With music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown is a sung-through folk opera that reimagines ancient Greek myths for a contemporary audience. The Teen Edition maintains the emotional depth and musical richness of the original while being thoughtfully adapted for youth performers and family-friendly audiences.

A Story of Love, Loss, and Hope

At its heart, Hadestown follows two intertwining love stories: that of hopeful young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and the complex, eternal relationship between the powerful King Hades and the vibrant Persephone. Their journeys take audiences from the warmth of the living world into the shadows of the underworld and back again, exploring themes of trust, sacrifice, and resilience.
