Have you ever felt like a victim to time? Without realizing it, I sure did. “I never have enough time.” “I wish I could clone myself.” Anyone else ever said or thought these things? If so, you’re playing a victim to time. I do my best to avoid being a victim in any shape or form, so I knew I had to fix this mindset. I have been on a mission for over a year to discover the answer and I have at least part of it because of two books I have read: The Big Leap, by Gay Hendricks and Tranquility by Tuesday, by Laura Vanderkam.
In a nutshell, all the timeblocking and willpower in the world will not serve you if you do not take the time to decide on your priorities–which need to include all areas of your life, not just business–and THEN you put the scheduling into action. A great example is if you tell someone you don’t have time to meet for coffee/chat on the phone/go for a walk and you use time as an excuse. In reality, if that same person needed you in an emergency situation, you would absolutely find the time. So time really isn’t the issue/excuse, it’s an easy scapegoat and takes the responsibility of that choice off of us. In the long run, this does not serve us because it’s disempowering. We need to OWN OUR CHOICES. ALL of them. The books mentioned above give practical steps to putting this into action. At one point, the author asked “How do you want to feel on Friday?” My response? Calm and confident. For the first time in a very long time, I end my week feeling more at peace and empowered by my increased productivity. Feels lile a miracle after so much time struggling. Although I am a work in progress, it FEELS right and I know I am moving in the right direction.
In addition to reading daily for personal growth, I also rely on my essential oils for support in improving my mindset. Did you know that essential oils have an emotional component to them? For instance, Ginger is the Oil of Empowerment. Wild Orange is the Oil of Abundance. Imagine diffusing these oils, separately or together, while planning your week. Your sense of smell is so powerful–don’t underestimate the power of pure and potent essential oils! If you want to know more, reach out to me and we’ll !
